The Author Wide Brim Fedora Hat in black is a great new style by Jaxon & James. This 100% wool hat is unlined, crushable and has a shapeable wire brim. The perfect new addition to any wardrobe! The generous brim measures 8.5cm wide all the way around offering great protection. It is finished with an interior sweatband and stylish grosgrain hat band.

This beautiful design was inspired by the author Terry Pratchett. And our head of IT, a big fan of Mr Pratchett has written some lovely words about our new hat:

"Having worked at Village Hats for some 10 years I can sometimes find it difficult to become excited about new styles. The Jaxon & James "The Author" Fedora, however, makes me very happy indeed.

This hat is inspired by the iconic head-wear of one of my favourite authors, Terry Pratchett, who I first encountered at a very young age and whose work I have found myself returning to for more than twenty years. I distinctly remember meeting him as a child, his huge, clearly well-loved (and well-used!) Fedora perched jauntily on his head as he very graciously signed my copy of Small Gods and had me in tears from laughing so hard at his jokes.

I'll definitely be picking one of these up myself, and if you're after that "Discworld look", perhaps you will too."

Absurdly oversized, by at least one size, possibly two, in comparison with the two other hats that I bought at the same time. Returned it using Village Hats' preferred system (at a cost of Euros 12.65) and, over 14 days since handing it over, I am still waiting for a refund. I am not impressed.

I bought this hat 3 years ago for a wedding - and I fell in love with it - it is a very good natured hat - it will stand being crumpled in a bag, stepped on on pub floors, getting soaking wet in downpours - and it simply looks good on anyone (male or female) that wears it. Last week I lost it on a train and they can't recover it :-( so I am going to buy another exactly the same!

About the hat, style and colour The hat is very well made, I am a medium usually but brought a large with sweatbands just in case the medium was quite small and even with the large I don’t need sweatbands, the colour is well nice, material is not cheaply made at all and to be a hat that sir Terry pratchett would of worn or based off of his hat style is amazing, this had should come back out in a brown or dark brown, overal, this hat is my new go to hat.

About As Cool As It Gets Big fan of fedora an Jaxon and James hats for the quality, style and fit. The author hat takes it a bit further with a brilliantly wider brim. This hat is versatile, wasn't so sure about the wire brim but it means you can make this hat your own. You don't find many hats like this and shaping the brim can make it even more unique. The Crown is a classic style and the headband inside makes it comfy to wear. An absolute winner, if you like fedora, you'll love the author!

Wide Brim Fedora Just received this hat and it's great....!! Well made and fits comfortably.... Great for general jollity and stage character.... Complements the popular 'gambler' style by taking things a bit further....

The Hat I’Ve Been Dreaming Of I probably couldn’t have described my dream hat before finding this hat, but turns out this is exactly it. As someone who previously didn’t wear hats I am excited for a winter of refusing to ever take this off. I have long blonde hair and I’ve been playing with styles under the hat since it arrived - just down and straight looks great, as do waves, plaits and basically everything I’ve tried. This isn’t a hat for the faint hearted as it does sorta say “I am a mafia wife who murdered your parents in cold blood”, but I am LOVING it.
